The project

The renovation of an office façade in the Eixample: new window systems and ventilated ceramic cladding, resolved from the detail to the whole.

The project was the renovation of the building's main façade, renewing both its appearance and its performance. The new high-performance window systems improve energy efficiency and indoor comfort alike.

The intervention keeps a balance between preserving the character of the building and introducing current solutions, with a result that is in dialogue with its urban setting in Barcelona.

The drawing and the street.

The elevation arranges the façade in bands: glazing, ceramic spandrel, glazing. The photograph, taken from the pavement opposite, shows the same rhythm as built.

The detail shows how the profiles, the glass, the cladding and the floor slab relate to one another. The ceramic is fixed to a subframe of profiles (KeraTwin K20 system).
